Seed Treatment to Manage Crop Diseases

Under dry land conditions of Southern India, crops like groundnut, finger millet (ragi), maize and pulses are affected by soil and seed borne diseases such as root rot, collar rot and wilt. Poor soil biological conditions, low organic matter and degraded ecology have added to the increasing disease infections. Use of chemical pesticides is an additional burden to the resource poor farmers in the region besides further degrading the ecology.
