The “National Conference on farmers’ friendly Soil and Water Conservation technologies for Mitigating Climate Change Impact”  was organized by ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Regional centre, Udhagamandalam and Soil  Conservation Society of India during 31st January to 2nd February 2019 at Hotel Gem Park, Ooty, Tamil Nadu.

The Governor of Tamilnadu presided over the Conference and requested the gathering to reach out to small farmers with the benefits of scientific research.

Mr. Krishnan, Team leader of Dharmapuri Unit of AMEF presented a paper on “In-situ Soil, Water and Crop management in dry land ecosystem -An ecological approach ”. The major focus of the paper was farmers’ centric approach through FFS, importance of soil and water conservation at in-situ level in small farm holdings, Summer Cropping using summer rain immediately to realize additional income prior to Kharif season starts, stressed the importance of building on farm level climate with tree components there on village level etc.. as pathway to think Global level climate Scenario. Importance of initiating rainwater harvesting at the household level was also emphasised. Mr. Mallikarjun, Team Leader of Dharwad Unit of AMEF also participated in the Conference.
